Henn’s Plant Farm, LLC originally began in the 1950s when Mr. Frank Henn began growing flowers in the field, digging them and selling some. He then erected a small propagation house, adding other wooden greenhouse structures as the business grew. Some of these houses were moved from the location off Sweeten Creek Road in Asheville to the current location in the Hoopers Creek Community of Fletcher in the summer of 1971, at which time son Charles joined the business.
More wooden houses were erected, and the future brought steel structure houses which now total fifteen heated and twenty-four ground cover and shrub houses, with four acres of open nursery area.
The years have added Charles, a wife Betty, and son Bryan, who works alongside them in the nursery business, and daughter Alice. They have eight beautiful grandchildren.
2018 brought changes as Charles officially retired after working the business 46 years as well as growing up working in with the family. Bryan took ownership of the Nursery January 2018 and has worked full time for 18 years and part-time growing up. Late April, daughter Alice joined the office as Betty's assistant and is doing a fantastic job. Great having the family working together each day. 2019 brought on Bryan's daughter Courtney as a part time helper. Another generation with some interest in the farm.
2020 will give Betty a finish of 46 years of service to the business as she plans to retire at the end of the year. She has worked almost all positions possible at the farm over the years and will never be far away along with her husband Charles.
